Alesund is a small town (pop. 45000) in M¿re og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sunnm¿re, and the centre of the lesund Region. It is a sea port, fishing centre and cruise liner stopping point. Here we see a group of nearby small islands viewed from Aksla, a hill overlooking the town. Nowhere in the west of Norway seems too far from dramatic fjords, islands, cliffs or coastline. Note the tiny red-roofed house lost in this widescreen scenery.
