A fine carved matchlock gun, Italy, 2nd half of the 17th century, Long octagonal barrel with microgroove rifling in 16 mm calibre, dovetailed brass front sight and iron rear sight. Iron matchlock with a flash guard, pivoting pan cover, and spring-loaded trigger bar. Walnut full stock, with the entire areas of the butt and lock displaying deeply carved flowery vines, hunting scenes, and grotesque masks. Iron furniture. Original ramrod with horn tip.
