Shrubs of erect habit while young, but gradually spreading and drooping as they acquire age. They produce in June and July superb large, trumpet-shaped flowers of all shades and colors, from pure white to red. In borders and groups of trees they are very effective, and for margins the variegated-leaved varieties are admirably suited, their gay-colored foliage contrasting finely with the green of other shrubs. Of vigorous habit, an erect grower, becoming in time a large sized shrub; flowers pure white and produced in great profusion in June, and the plants continue to bloom through the summer, even until autumn.
