These were imported in 1818, and may be regarded as Guernseys in fact, inasmuch as cattle on the Alderney Island are to-day registered in the island of Guernsey herdbook. According to publications of the American Guernsey Cattle Club, cattle were brought to America from Guernsey about 1830, but concerning these no special record was made. About 1850 a few were brought to the vicinity of Philadelphia, and after 1865 more began to be imported to the seaboard states. About 1865 E. P. P. Fowler.
