It is distinguished by having the upper back quite white without any narrow transverse bands and the primaries beneath with a large white patch on the inner web. All the examples in the South African Museum are undoubtedly referable to D. exulans; they are all from Table Bay or its vicinity and have been obtained in the months of August and September. Habits.—This, the largest of all the sea birds and generally known as "The Albatros" without any qualification, is to be found 32 VOL.
