Cut stock is greatly improved in quality, especially roses, of which mut-h is expected from our local growers this season. Prices advanced a good deal the last part of the week. In roses Russell, Ophelia, Columbia and Ward are showing well in stem and color. Kil- larney and White Killarney are in splen- did demand, especially the latter, the only white rose in the market at pres- ent. Carnations are improving daily. Flow^ers are of good size and longer of stem and the few coming in clean up every day. Few chrysanthemums are in at present. A shipment from Cali- fornia arrived in perfect condition. The local cut will not begin before October 15. Dahlias are not nearly so heavy as last year at this time, but every day sees heavier consignments; these clean up daily. Asters and gladioli have seen their best days, but are still quite abundant. At present there is a great deal of outdoor stock coming in and the demand for it has been quite heavy of late.
