One of the most famous markets of Istanbul is the Misir Carsi (means "Egyptian Market"), the spice bazaar, a colourful market, where you can find all sorts of spices ("baharat"), herbs and orientals sweets, even some natural turkish "viagra". It was constructes in 1660 as part of the complex (kulliye) of the Yeni Camii (mosque). Nowadays, more and more spice shops leave their place to touristic ones or shops that sell electronics etc. but you can still have a strong "taste" of the "Orient".
