The Yang Kuei-Fei cherry blossom; Yôshisakura; A series of cherry blossoms for the Katsushika poets' association; Katsushika Sakuratsukushi. Yang Kuei-Fei (719-56), known as Yôkihi in Japan, was the favorite concubine of the Chinese T'ang Emperor Hsüan Tsung (685-762). The cherry blossom (Yôkihisakura) mentioned would have emerged in the city of Nara. With two poems, one poem told about the origin of the cherry blossom: the cherry blossom known as the Yôkihi comes from China - therefore she blooms the spring in the Yoshino mountains - and these are, indeed, south of Nara.
