A flintlock rifle,Wiesbaden,end of the 17th century. Heavy,slightly swamped,octagonal barrel with an eight-groove rifled bore in 14 mm calibre,dovetailed brass front sight,and iron rear sight. Inscribed,"A WISBAD" above the breech. Chiselled(somewhat pitted)flintlock. Set trigger. Carved walnut full stock with a bone patch box engraved with hunting scenes. Cut iron furniture. Original ramrod with an iron tip and threaded shoe. Length 95 cm. Provenance: Christies/Düsseldorf,20/21 March 1972.
