The ceremony marked the 94th anniversary of the battle and represented the long-lasting American-French friendship, brotherhood forged before the battle grounds of World War I to the current operations in Afghanistan. The cemetery has 2,039 known-buried, and 250 unidentified, who lay in the slopes of the hill.
