Spines numerous, slen- ovate to long; leaves elliptic-o\ 3'-2l' long, 4'-ir wide, at the apex, cuneate. coarsely serrate or doubly so, subcoriaceous, rough- pubescent and shining above, pale- tomentose beneath ; petioles 2'-4' long; corymbs pubescent; flowers 6' or 7' broad; stamens about 20; anthers pink; styles and nutlets 3-5; laciniate; fruit subglobose to pyriform, orange-red, about 5' thick, slightly vil- lous, rather prominent, the lobes per;istent, reflexed.
