Five spot burnet moth
Five spot burnet (Zygaena trifolii) resting on the flowers of tufted vetch in a calcareous grassland habitat. There is a single generation each year with the flight period from July to August. This day flying moth is a member of the Zygaenidae family and is found in the southern half of the UK. The larval food is birds-foot trefoil. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in July.
