Large olive paste spreading fibre disk machine, Quinta Generacion Olive Oil Factory, Mendoza, Argentina
The Quinta Generacion Pasrai Olive Oil business, producing dried fruits, dehydrated vegetables and extra virgin olive oil, was started by the Muravnik Family in 1920. The production of olive oil can take up to four months. Oil, compressed out of an olive paste, is pumped into a series of tanks, from which the olive oil is filtered out. The olives are first ground into a paste. The paste is then spread on fibre disks, which are then stacked on top of each other and compressed by a hydraulic piston. The hydraulic pressure may reach 400 atmospheres in order to squeeze the olive oil and vegetable water out of the vegetable fibre. Here we see a machine ready to spread the paste onto an awaiting circular synthetic fibre disk. behind the machine we see a grinder with two millstones grinding the olives into a paste.
