Mercury
These views of Mercury were obtained by the Mercury Atmosphere and Surface Composition Spectrometer (MASCS) instrument onboard the MESSENGER space probe. The Visual and Infrared Spectrometer (VIRS) portion of MASCS collected single tracks of spectral surface measurements as MESSENGER orbited Mercury for four years, from 2011 to 2015. Spectral properties of both broad terrains and small, distinct features such as pyroclastic vents and fresh craters can be viewed. Key: VIRS Color Composite Wavelengths: 575 nm as red, 415 nm/750 nm as green, 310 nm/390 nm as blue. Center Latitude (Both Globes): 0°
Center Longitude (Left Globe): 90° E
. Center Longitude (Right Globe): 180° E.
