Newtonian Telescope, 17th Century
The Newtonian telescope is a type of reflecting telescope invented by the English physicist Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727). The earliest known functional reflecting telescope, completed in 1668, it used a concave primary mirror and a flat diagonal secondary mirror.
