At Leipzig about 430,000men had mingled in fight, while at Koniggratz,as we shall call it in compliment to our ancientand honoured allies the Prussians, the totalnumber of combatants was about 435,000, orclose on half a million of men. What had called these armed hosts into thefield ? Briefly put, it was the question whichwas to be the leading Power among the Ger-man-speaking peoples—Austria or Pruss
