Caudal rounded or subacuminate, as long as head. Caudal peduncle 1| times as long as deep. 30-32 scales in longitudinal series, 20 round body in front of ventrals; lateral line indicated by a series of shallow pits. Brown above and on the sides, dirty white beneath ; usually a bright yellow, continuous or interrupted* lateral band, from the gill-cover to the base of the caudal; dorsal and caudal brown, spotted with yellow; some orange on the pectoral and ventrals.
