Lamma island, half hour by ferry from Hong Kong Central is an ideal destination for spending a day in the territory without cars

Hong Kong, Yung Shue Wan, 15 January 2011 Lamma island, half an hour by ferry from Hong Kong Central is an ideal destination for spending a day in the territory without cars and highrises. The island is home for about 6000 inhabitants and most live in the biggest village Yung Shue Wan, including a seizable number of foreigners. The harbour is still pittoresque despite the coal fired powerstation on the other side with now 3 chimneys. The only traffic allowed are bicycles and motorised mini trucks. Photo Kees Metselaar
