Grubb Cottage, Lyttleton, dates was built in 1851 and is the oldest surviving domestic dwelling in Lyttleton and one of the oldest in Canterbury.


Grubb Cottage, Lyttleton, dates was built in 1851 and is the oldest surviving domestic dwelling in Lyttleton and one of the oldest in Canterbury. It is of historic importance as it was the first section of land sold within New Zealand and not pre-purchased in England. It was owned by John Grubb a shipwright, and one of Lyttleton's earliest settlers. It is now a protected buildingand is a catagoy 11 Historic Place. It is open to visitors every Saturday morning.
