The writer iswell aware of all that this statementimplies, but the stores in Claremontcannot be surpassed outside thegreater trade centers of New Eng-land. In its purely financial institu-tions it has the Claremont Nationaland the Peoples National banks andthe Clarem(mt Savings bank. The Sugar River, which has itssource in Lake Sunapee, is the basisof industrial Claremont. From theearliest settlement of the town thedifferent privileges of the river havebeen utilized to their full extent andas intimated Claremont itself is theresult.
