Monument Valley is situated in the north east corner of Arizona, USA. It is a dry, inhospitable landscape, occupied by humans for many centuries. The early settlers were members of the Anasazi people. The land now forms part of the Navajo tribal lands. The spectacular scenery has formed the backdrop to many famous films including Stagecoach, Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Back to the Future, Rio Grande, Easy Rider and The Eiger Sanction. Monument Valley was immortalised by the director John Ford.
