In the oceans, the shallow waters of the continental shelf are turquoise, with deeper blue indicating deeper water. On land, low-lying areas are green, with yellow, orange, red and grey indicating increasing elevation. The highest point in the world is Mount Everest, at 8848 metres, in the Himalaya mountain range (top centre). The mid-Indian Ridge runs from bottom left to lower left, where it divides into a branch running northwest to the Red Sea (upper left) and another running southeast. The Ninetyeast Ridge runs for nearly 4000 kilometres down the 90th meridian (90 degrees East) just right of centre.
