Without exaggeration it can be said thatthe development and maniifacture of gluefrom vegetable sources marked a big ad-vance and comprises a notable event amongthe marvelous improvements brought outby American genius. The InternationalProcess Company were the pioneers in thatfield and their products have especial valuefor the many wood and veneer makingindustries, some of the greatest of whichhave their home in Indiana. This glue isnot only made from vegetable matter, buthas no odor, and can be used cold merelyby the admixture of water, whereas animalgiue requires a heat of 120 degrees. Veg-etable glue has now entirely supplantedthe animal glue in the larger industrialplants of the country. In Indiana aloneit is used exclusively by such large con-cerns as the Hoosier Cabinet Company,Showers Brothers Company, Bloomington,Indiana, the largest furniture factoryin the world, the New Albany Veneer-ing Company, Globe-Wernecke Company,Globe-Bosse-World Furniture Companyand others.
