A chiselled Swiss/South German officer's sabre, mid-17th century Sturdy, single-edged blade with double fullers on both sides and slightly broadened, double-edged point. Both sides with rich, ornamental etchings of snake, sun, Malchus, moon and stars. Chiselled iron hilt, the S-shaped quillons with mascaron cut on the obverse and three-dimensional lion's head finials on the sides. Two-piece, copper-soldered and hollow pommel in the shape of a lion's head. Leather-covered grip (leather replaced) secured by four bars. Length 99 cm.
