Cardiomyopathy examinations, MRI scans
Coloured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans examining the heart of a 53 year old female patient with cardiomyopathy. Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle that makes the heart less efficient at pumping blood to the lungs and the rest of the body. The cause of this case is unknown. The images across top are showing normal right and left ventricles and ventricular walls. Across bottom are volume mapping scans to determine the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), the amount of blood the left ventricle pumps to the body with each heartbeat. The LVEF is within normal parameters.
