THE BANK OF accompanying illustration gives a goodidea of the new bank of Montreal in course oferection at Toronto. The building was designedby Darling & Curry of the same city. The ex-terior is constructed of Ohio freestone and the pletely syphoned the trap, leaving less than atablespoonful of water in the trap. Experiment 2.—The vent of this trap wasopened, and to it was attached 15 feet of inchiron pipe having one half circle curve and oneright angle. Three flushes of the pipe com-pletely destroyed the seal of the trap. Experiment 3.—The ventilating pipe was re-moved and a McClellan anti syphon air-inlet wasattached to the trap. The pipe was then flushedas before, and resulted in a loss of 5-16 inch ofseal. Four subsequent flushes showed a furtherloss of % inch, or a total loss of 9-16 inch as the. interior is elaborately finished. In the center ofthe ceiling of the banking room is a glass dometwenty-two feet in diameter. Above the dome isa double glazed skylight with seven hundred feetof glass surface. Steam for heating purposes issupplied from two horizontal boilers, thirty-sixinches in diameter, ten feet long with thirty-twothree inch flues. There are thirty six Bundydirect radiators, most of which are set in marbleslabs and have polished brass screens and nickelplated valves.
