Theyear 1914 and the first half of 1915 were periods of depression inthe cotton belt, and this was reflected by higher pellagra the latter part of 1915 and in all of 1916 prosperity prevailedand the industrial and agricultural communities of the South en-joyed a more abundant and varied ration.
