Remains of tracks used to launch Catalina flying boats during WWII, Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales, UK.

Fryars Bay Catalina Flying Boat Slipway, Llanfaes. During World War 2 (1939-45) Saunders-Roe ("Saro") company set up a factory on part of the old friary site to assemble and arm Catalina flying boats. Planes were moved from the works for launching via rails which crossed the coast road (B5109) and ran down a slipway and over beach. Remains of concrete (ladder-shaped supports), iron and wooden slipway survive running from top of beach down into mud below low tide. View looking west north west up beach to factory.
