Turbine House and Tailrace of Glen Tarbet Hydro Electric Power Station Strontian Highlands Scotland UK
The tailrace returns the water to the main stream The water runs off river weirs using an intake grid chamber and onto a turbine generator The turbine is controlled from a panel and electricity generated is dependant on the amount and flow of water from the river. The generation of this clean electricity will help prevent an annual release of many tonnes of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, which is a major contibutor to global warming and climate change.
