Plant research insect trap (yellow) being used in an experiment on plant milking technology in a Plant Advanced Technologies (PAT) research laboratory. The yellow card is sticky and traps insects that land on it. The plants are hydroponic cultures of yew plants (Taxus baccata). The yew is being used to produce taxol, an anticancer chemical. PAT have developed a method for extracting active plant substances from a plant's roots. PAT, launched in July 2005 in Nancy, France, produces novel plant extracts for pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies.
