December 20, 1982 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE There aren't too many occasions during the year when we can relax a little and forget the tensions of the day. In fact, there is only one such time that I know of and that's the Christmas season. Whether you're a farmer, student, housewife, laborer - in fact it makes no differ- ence what you do - Christmas and New Year's are a time to enjoy life, to reflect on what has passed and what is to come. It's a time to review things LeRoy Fjordbotten calmly and rationally, and to look at the mistakes we've made and the opportunities in front of us, as well as what we can do to make the most of the 365 days that lie ahead. In many ways agriculture is no different than any other aspect of our economy. It has troubles. It has opportunities. The bottom line is we will survive. I can think of no better reason than that to start each day or each year with optimism because I know we are an industry that has the will to meet challenges, to be productive to survive!
