Gold-glided walls of dragons and qilins of the Main Hall of Taiyuin Mausoleum - The Final Resting Place of Iemitsu

Taiyuin Mausoleum is the final resting place of Tokugawa Iemitsu, grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He was the 3rd Shogun under the Tokugawa rule. It has similar layout to Tosho-gu, but is smaller and less ostentatious in line with Iemitsu's stated last wish not to outshine his grandfather's. The Mausoleum is administered by Rinno-ji and is classified as a National Treasure of Japan. The Mausoleum is not usually opened for public visit.
