Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is a much visited tourist destination, especially for the Dal Lake and for the colorful gardens on the slopes of the hills next to the lake. The Tulip Garden is one of the newest tourist attractions in Srinagar, located on the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountain range, located on a large area of 12 hectares. It is officially known as the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden and gets thrown open for a period of 1 month in the month of April every year, when the flowers bloom at their best. The garden was opened to the public in 2007, and such is the beauty that many people plan their trip to the state to be able to visit the Tulip Garden (which was formerly called Siraj Bagh). The many colors of Tulips arranged in rows attract a large number of visitors.
