Evil spirits exorcism. Manuscript in the Naxi pictographic language, describing the casting out of evil spirits. The Naxi (or Nakhi) are an ethnic group found in the foothills of the Himalayas in the north-western part of Yunnan Province, China. The Naxi Kingdom was at its peak between the 8th and 17th centuries. Their priests (dongbas) used manuscripts such as these to perform religious rituals and shamanistic ceremonies.
