Royal Palace of Valcasotto (Reggia di Val Casotto) in the upper Tanaro Valley, municipality of Garessio, region of Piedmont, Italy. Year 1837 Duke Charles Albert of Savoy (Carlo Alberto) purchased it to transform it into a hunting castle and summer residence. Used as a hunting reserve especially by Vittorio Emanuele II. Here took place the marriage between Princess Clotilde, daughter of Vittorio Emanuele II, and Prince Napoleon Gerolamo Bonaparte, a marriage which formed the basis of the alliance between Piedmont and France. The residence is one of the Residenze Sabaude considered by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
