In 1781 appeared A View ofSociety and Manners in Italy, 2 vols. 8vo. In1786 he published his Medical Sketches ; and in1789, a novel, entitled Zeluco. In the summer of 1792 he paid a short visit toParis, as medical attendant of the earl of Lauder-dale, and having witnessed some of the principalscenes of the French Revolution, on his returnhe published A Journal during a residence inFrance, 1792. Dr. Moore edited a collected edi-tion of Smolletts Works. He died at London,Feb. 20, 1802. His portrait is subjoined :. He had two sisters, one married to the Rev. Porteous, one of the ministers of Glasgow,and the other to George Macintosh, Esq. of Duu-hatton. The eldest son of the latter, Charles Mac-intosh, , celebrated for his chemical discov-eries, was the inventor of the gentlemans covering MOORE, 196 SIR JOHN. called a macintosh, and othei gutta percha arti-cles (see vol. ii. p. 752.)
