Poppers. Bottles of the drug known as poppers made of alkyl nitrite or amyl nitrite. Some brand names include Liquid Gold, Rush and Stud. This liquid drug is sniffed as a vapour from a bottle or capsule. Amyl nitrite is taken because users feel light-headed and warm; it also briefly alters the user's perception of time and is claimed to improve orgasm during sexual intercourse. The drug acts as a muscle relaxant and opens blood vessels. Side effects include headache, skin reddening and decreased blood pressure. The drug is not addictive and its effects last for up to 5 minutes. High doses may cause nausea, vomiting, faintness, and rarely death.
