Genetic microarray preparation. Analyst pipetting a prepared DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) sample onto a gene chip or microarray. This device is used with automated equipment to investigate and compare the properties of thousands of genes at once. The chip has a collection of microscopic DNA spots, each containing a specific DNA sequence. These are used to measure the expression levels of large numbers of genes simultaneously or to identify sequences of multiple regions of a genome. Photographed at Genoscope National Sequencing Centre, University of Evry, France.
