Brighton, May 5th 2024: Michael Button, Downs Junior School Premises Manager, preparing for this Saturday and Sunday's Brighton Festival event, when the World War 2 air-raid shelter under the playground will be open to visitors. The shelter had lain undisturbed and forgotten until the mid-1980s when it was rediscovered during a routine drain inspection and is now the only school air-raid shelter in the south open to the public.
