Tyrannosaurus rex femur bone. Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex) was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs. It measured 6 metres tall and weighed 7 tonnes. This bone is part of a near-complete T-rex skeleton being refurbished by Phil Fraley Productions, USA. The dinosaur skeleton is taken apart, bone by bone, and after renovation and refurbishment, will be re-mounted as a new display at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The original T-rex exhibit was mounted over 100 years ago in a posture that is now thought to be incorrect. The new display will feature the T rex skeleton posed as if fighting over a fresh kill. Photographed in 2007.
