Male with inner claw of front tarsi thickened, dilated and ab- ruptly curved. Length 18-23 mm. (Fig. 410.) Throughout the State, frequent; more so about the sandy lake shores of the northern coun- ties. May 26-Aug'ust 26. Occurs at electric light and beneath rubbish. (Or., "without-(;) The untoothed mandibles and the lack of stridulating organs on the under surface of the elytra are the principal characters separat- ing this genus from Ligiji-us. In our spei-ies the tip of the elypeus is elevated, and immediately behind it is a sharp, transverse ele- vated line which bears three blunt teeth.
