After his withdrawal from the army and the recovery of his health,Col. Riley engaged in active business life, and in the lapse of years heacquired a competency. He relinquished business several years since andnow resides in Brooklyn. He was married in 1857 to Miss Teresa Mallon and seven children wereborn to them, two of whom are now living; but Mrs. Riley succumbed to afatal illness in 1874 and her death was deeply lamented by her husbandand children to whom she was a faithful wife and devoted mother.
