'The Green Man at Putney Heath', c1935. The Green Man public house in south west London, parts of which date back to c1700. The pub was supposedly frequented by highwaymen who preyed on the intoxicated as they went home, and was also a popular place for participants before or after a duel on nearby Putney Heath.
