These flues should be built with fire-brick, and it is bestto have about six feet of the covering of the end connectedwith the fire-place arched over with fire-bricks instead of thel)erf orated iron plates,BO as to prevent thedirect flame from thefire from getting intothe oven, or burningout the plates. Ihave seen strong firesmake these plates, atthe farthest end fromthe fire, nearly red-hot. The cost of firingsuch an oven
