Craftsman makes a leather puppet of Rama for wayang kulit theatre in the Classic Wayang crafts shop in Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. Traditional puppet shadow theatre known as wayang kulit is widespread on the islands of Java and Bali in Indonesia. Puppets for wayang kulit are made of buffalo leather. Production of one puppet takes approximately six days. Each character has its own features and can be easily identified by spectators. For example, Rama, the central character of the Indian epic Ramayana, is always depicted with a long nose and wearing a crown.
