STEVENS Of Killing-worth, was a member of the GeneralAssembly in 1881. He was brought up on afarm, but at the age of twenty years began towork at wood-turning, following this in the win-ter and farming in the summer. In a shorttimehe became one of the owners of an ivory-turningmanufactory, and subsequently combined withthis the running of a grist mill and saw has been sealer of weights and measures,grand juror, member of the School Committee,and member of the Society Committee. He wasborn in Killingworth, January 25, 1824, and isfifty-eight years of age. Politically he is aDemocrat. 171. DELOS D. BROWN Of Chatham, is Chairman of the Republican TownCommittee, a position which lie has held for thepast three years. He was born at Orleans, Barn-stable County, Massachusetts, in 1838, and is nowin his forty-fourth year. His education was ac-quired at Chases Institute in Middletown, and atWesleyan Academy in Wilbraham, Massachu-setts. During active life he has engaged inmanufacturing and the mercantile business, andduring one session of the Legislature was Housereporter for the New Haven Morning News. Atthe outbreak of the war Mr. Brown enlisted inthe Federal service, raised a company for theTwenty-first Regiment, C. V., was commissionedFirst Lieutenant and afterwards promoted to therank of Captain. During the war he participatedin nearly all of the battles in which the
