We were interested to learn whether the same result would obtain with laboratory-reared Newport River larvae; therefore, on 3 occasions we reared laboratory-hatched Newport River larvae to zoea III before placing them in experimental conditions. Larvae were maintained in a 14 h light: 10 h dark cycle which closely matched the actual times of sunrise '05 o. OJ Q Exp 814.
