Memento Mori. Remember death, or Remember you must die. After an early 17th century work by Hendrick Hondius. Symbols in this picture include a skull, an hourglass and scales. The scales are set above two very different wings which suggest an afterlife in heaven or hell depending upon comportment in the here and now.
