Grey sky early morning portrait homeless people on sidewalk by 106 Austin Street with Native American Figure, San Francisco, USA
In September 2011 the Occupy Movement protested about economic in-equality in the USA. In response to the protest, artists Spencer Keeton Cunningham and Jaque Farga, focusing on the historic displacement of American Indians, completed this 'American Indian Occupation' mural in October 2011 on the wooden side wall of 106 Austin Street. The Native American figure, with arrow through head, holds a beer can in one hand, while the other hand drips blood into a paper-bag alcohol container. The figure holds a skateboard under the right arm. On the sidewalk, by bicycles and supermarket trolley, three homeless people sleep rough under blankets, one man sitting up.
