Jordan. Colourful scenes at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wadi Rum with tourists crossing the Al Kharza rock arch.

Colourful scenes of Wadi Rum in 1998 near the port of Aqaba in southern Jordan famed as a motion picture film set from the Oscar winning film Lawrence of Arabia, directed by David Lean. The Wadi is also famed for providing Lawrence with the idea to write his inspirational book the Seven Pillars of Wisdom based on his experiences with the Bedouin Arabs and his general knowledge of Arabia. Wadi Rum is also the actual location where Lawrence assembled his Arab Army to attack and overrun the Turkish Garrison of the Ottoman Empire at the port of Aqaba during the First World War. He is buried in the village cemetery at Moreton, Devon in Southwest England. See my photo of his grave and other memorabilia
